Bart Holderman, great-grandson of Scott Montgomery Holderman, gave me a sheet which was written by his grandfather, Ellsworth Holderman in about 1937 which lists the birth dates of the parents and of all of the children, and the exact death dates of Gilderoy, Marion and Olive, and the surnames of the spouses of Gilderoy, Adaline, Marion, Olive, Eleanor, Mercy Caroline Jr., and Ruth. A note at the bottom of the sheet says: Gilderoy, Marion, Scott and their father were members of Co. D, 6th Kansas Cavalry. The father served 1 year and retired on account of age and died at home. Gilderoy wounded badly in 1863. Marion also wounded by comrade while on guardhouse duty. Jane and Almira drowned while bathing. Gilford murdered by "bushwhackers" during war. Jake was a Texas cattleman and died very wealthy.
