1792 Apr. 16: Denny Fairfax of Kent Co., VA, sold 52 acres, part of Swan Ponds to Barton O'Neal of Hampshire Co., VA. Recorded 28 Aug. 1794. Witnesses were William Hilley, William Logan, Thomas Collins, Andrew Wodrow, Silas Simpkins, John O'Neal and Isaac Parsons. (Recorded in Hampshire Co., VA - now WV)
1795 Feb. 25: Barton O'Neal of Hampshire Co., VA, sold 52 acres, part of Swan Ponds to Isaac Vanmeter and Abel Seymour of Hampshire Co., VA. Recorded 20 April 1795. Witnesses were John Snyder, Isaac Means, John Mitchell, Benjamin Neal and Andrew Wodrow. (Recorded in Hampshire Co., VA - no WV)
1796 Sep. 15: Barton O'Neal bought "a certain tract of land lying in Anderson's Bottom being the same that was granted, etc. to Joseph Madden by Denny Fairfax, September 17, 1791." Whole lot contained 186 acres. Witnesses were Andrew Wodrow, Nathaniel Dyer, Henry Hines and William Schrock. (Deed book 13, p. 548, Hampshire County, VA, now WV).
1801 Oct. 20: John B. Dyson of Montgomery Co., MD, purchased from Barton and Mary Oneal, heirs of Samuel Dyson, Sr., land called Non Eaton and Thomas' Discovery in Montgomery County. Witnesses William Smith, Lawrence Oneale. (Montgomery County, Maryland, Liber K, Folio 223-224). Recorded 19 Apr. 1802.
1804 Barton O'Neal sold 186 acres of land in Hampshire Co, VA, to Thomas Monnett. This is the same land purchased on 15 Sep. 1796.
1804: Barton and Mary O'Neal moved to Colerain Twp. (Ross), OH. Barton O'Neal was the first blacksmith and carpenter in this township. (History of Ross County, Finly and Putnam, p. 102).

From "Family Lines of Mildred Moore Anderson": Barton O'Neal born February 22, 1758, son of John and Margaret, died October 10, 1830, aged 72 years, 7 months, 18 days. Mary, wife of Barton O'Neal, born 1768, died about 71 years old (From G.S.R. New Cemetery at Adelphi, Colerain Twp., Ross Co., OH. Barton O'Neal married Mary Dyson, daughter of Samuel and Lydia Dyson, January 9, 1786. (Frederick County, MD, Marriages 1779-1865, p. 283). Mary Dyson, born 1768; died about 1839, aged 71; married January 9, 1786, Barton Oneal, son of John and Margaret Oneal.
From "The History of Marion County", Leggett, Conaway and Co., 1883, p. 776: Landy Shoots was born in Fanquier Co., VA, November 30, 1795. He was brought by his parents to Oldtown, Ross County, Ohio, in 1799. He was married in Ross County, in 1820, to Miss Mary O'Neal. They subsequently lived in Hocking County, Ohio, whence they came to Marion County. In 1829, with a family of four children, named Joseph, Barton, Eleanor and Benjamin F., he entered 160 acres of land in Section 33, Grand Prairie Township, on which he erected a log house, where the fine residence of George W. Walters now stands, into which he moved with his family. At this time the Indians still owned their reserve in Wyandot County, and when their lands finally came into the market, he purchased several hundred acres. He became a very large land owner, and possessed at one time 3284 acres in Grand Prairie Township. At his death, May 4, 1871, he left a wife and eight children, serveral of whom now reside in Grand Prairie Township.
Mary: Children: Joseph, Barton (b. 24 Jul. 1823, m. Anna Bretz (d. 17 Oct. 1889, ae. 64y, 11m, 9d), d. 1 Mar. 1890), Eleanor, Benjamin F., Mary (b. 11 May 1854, m. Fenton Hord, d. 3 Dec. 1897). Barton and Mary are buried next to James Swinnerton in the Grand Prairie Cemetery (Marion), OH.
