1877 Dec. 9:
JOHN BOWEN of Fairplay (Saline), AR, married
AMERICUS J. BUGG (name written this way
on the recod), also of Fairplay (Saline), AR, on
this date, according to their marriage record.
(Names written
just as they are on the record.)
The bond was signed by JOHN BOWEN and W. F. BOWEN, the same day that the
license was issued. He was age 24 at the
time that he obtained the license to marry her; and she was age 16. The license was dated 7 Dec 1877. The marriage ceremony was performed on 9
Dec 1877. (The record erroneously bears the year
“1878”--incorrect, because the record also states that the marriage was
recorded 11 Jan 1898.) Per Saline
County Arkansas Marriage Records, Book D (1875-1879), page 208. Copy of the record on file.
